Giancarlino Benedetti Corcos

Über den Künstler

Giancarlino Benedetti Corcos (1954 - ) was born in Rome in 1954 and has been working in the same street for twenty years. From time to time he chooses the support on which to paint, ceramic, canvas, wood or paper, simple materials often recovered on the street. He accompanies his exhibitions with performances based on theatrical texts or imaginary figures. Giancarlino paints on the street by hanging a "sheet" on the wall with nails, interacting with passers-by who look at him curiously. The street is therefore his study. His pictorial investigation is undoubtedly placed in the wake of the liberating breach opened by the transavantgarde with its pictorial impulses and stylistic interweavings between figuration and abstraction, between geometry and ornamentation in a flow of images full of eroticism and vital energy.
Space is often marked according to sequences that seek a sort of framing within which the image radiates its vital energy, being the fruit of a direct emotion, the consequent emanation of a feeling of smoothness and a crossing of every figurative code ; in a certain sense the linguistic research that governs the construction of the image is an expressionism closer to the declinations given by the Roman school.
